The cookies not to make...

Or maybe just not let too much vanilla fall in..

womp..womp.

On Sunday I thought it would be fun to bake chocolate chip cookies a la Betty Crocker with Scraggs. She donned her vintage apron and we got to baking.

The cast of characters as the Pioneer woman would say.

I'm so cute because my mommy cut my bangs and I'm pretending to look like I know what I'm doing.

One more for good measure.

Me doing what I do best - supervising.

The first batch is done!

Our eyes appreciated them, but unfortunately our taste buds did not.

The end.

The OC Part II

Continued...

Saturday was halloween so we thought we would make the 40 minute trip to Hollywood Blvd. Let me tell you now. If you are expecting a little bit of glamour like I was, forget about it! Hollywood is rundown and nothing like I expected. We also drove down Sunset Blvd, and Melrose where Paramount Studios is located and it stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the rundown shops. We parked in a garage on Hollywood Blvd and I swear everyone and their grandmother was out! What a bad night to go. At one point it was so packed that we were all squished against other people. I felt like cattle and it was awful. We stayed for about 30 minutes, took some pictures and left.

I know I probably should of gone to Beverly Hills if I wanted ritz but it was dark out already and I was over it. On the way back we finally stopped at an In-N-Out burger. Yum!

Here are some pics..

What I wore. F21 belted sweater top and leggings.

Scraggs in her costume.

Hafez and a Samuel L. Jackson look a like. I thought it was really him at first. Hafez was like "Babe. Why would Samuel Jackson be standing on a sidewalk playing with his cellphone in his pulp fiction getup?" True.

On Sunday we went to Disneyland. We got there about 10:00 am and stayed till about 9:00 pm. Boy were our feet hurting once we got back to the hotel but it was worth the experience. I don't know what it is. Maybe my expectations are too high but I was expecting a little more from Disneyland. It seemed like there were more gift shops than rides and activities. I also thought we were going to frequently see the characters walking around the park. We only saw a few in the beginning and then had to wait in an almost 2 hour line so Scraggs could take pictures with the princess's. The wait for the rides were pretty fast though. Except for Space Mountain. That one was over an hour long. All in all though, I'm glad that Scraggs got to go.

The OC!!

I had a great time on our trip. I felt like one of those real housewives of Orange County lol. Hafez had to work the whole time (except for Sunday) so Scraggs and I were left to do whatever we wanted. Newport Beach is really nice and we had an easy time navigating around. I recommend the Fairmont. It's a very nice hotel and the service was excellant. We flew in Thursday night and didn't have time for anything but dinner. Friday, Scraggs and I headed to Balboa Island to look at the charming little shops and the water. Afterwards we headed to Fashion Island which is basically a mall and browsed around. Suprisingly, I didn't see anything that really stood out that was worth buying. Afterwards we headed to the hotel and watched a movie until it was time to pick up Hafez.

On Saturday Scraggs and I headed to Laguna Beach which is about 11 miles away from Newport. The short drive is really pretty with the mountains flanking the highway. We arrived and ate at a local diner and then headed to the water. We didn't get in but Scraggs played in the sand. I got a crack out of the Laguna beach bums. They walk around in pants, and windbreakers-though shirtless and lounge around in the sand or sit on the pier heckling people. Their skin looks like an old leather shoe. I tried to get a picture but I wasn't able to be discreet enough so I moved on. We stayed for about 3 hours and then headed back to the hotel to shower and change. Later that evening we dined at the Rusty Pelican which is a seafood restaurant with a waterfront view.

I still have Saturday (Halloween) and Sunday (Disneyland) to talk about, but I'm going to leave that for tomorrow. So for now. I leave you with these pictures.

What I wore Friday. I pretty much brought mainly sundresses and a sweater. In the evenings, I would change into jeans if it got too cold. The weather was great. Cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons.

Sihouettes

I've always been a sucker for silhouettes. They can be called "shades," and sometimes "profiles," or "shadow pictures." When they first appeared in the late 1600's, paper-cut profiles offered a viable alternative to traditional painted portraits. So for a small cost in money and time the sitter could immortalize his or her self for posterity. Or at least for the friend, sweetheart, or relative to whom silhouettes were often given as mementos.

Don't you just love them? I'd like to put some in the kitchen. They have such an old fashioned feel to them. ;)

In other completely unrelated news. I got the position I was applying for! I am excited and nervous. Mainly excited about this new change.

Hope everyone has a great day. I'll be back next week from California. I'll be sure to take pictures. ;)

I'm so excited..

and I Just can't hide it...

I'm about to lose control and I think I like it...

Just kidding. I'm having a Pointer Sisters moment.

Scraggs and I are going on a mini vacation with Hafez. Well vacation for us, work for him. His work is sending him out to Costa Mesa, California for a week tomorrow, and Scraggs and I will leave Thursday to join him and stay for a few days. They are funding his trip so all we really have to worry about is the plane tickets and my dad works for Continental Airlines so there you have it. A nice little getaway that won't hurt the pocketbook. :)

House Updates..

Good morning :)

I have gotten around to taking pictures of all the updates that we've done, but here are some recent ones.

1) Replaced the 1950's microwave with a Kenmore Elite:
(Before)

(After)

2) Replaced ugly maroon doggy door in living room:
(Before)

(After)

Changing this door was not easy. First we got the wrong one and then the right one would not fit. The whole frame had to come out and be changed. The end result was totally worth it though.

3) Replaced ceiling fan in Scragg's room with this Hampton Bay chandelier from Home Depot:
(Before-with seller's furniture)

(After)

More updates and finds coming soon!
